Evaluation - Question 2

My explanation of linking products together: Throughout all my products, I have kept it consistent by following the conventions of the genre romance drama. In the trailer, voice over is used to help portray the narrative as well as to encourage empathy when the audience is watching; so that they are able to grasp the sense of the sub-genre drama. When producing the products I have taken consideration of Rick Altman's theory of conventions splitting into two elements; syntactic and semantic elements. These are the signs and symbols to help the audience recognise the genre of the film. I have used various shots and locations which reflects on the characters and the genre of the film to build the narrative and to set the mood; this was used throughout to make sure there is a consistent flow to the trailer. I have used the same light hearted and loving atmosphere in my print products, to make sure the theme is portrayed clearly.
Another convention which I kept consistent was the film name 'her smile', the same serif font was used so that it would be recognised by the audience. I have also used the same style of costume for my main characters as this is also an important visual element to recognising the characters within the film. The tagline can also be seen on my film poster, film magazine and trailer, this will be recognised by the audience as it is one of the conventions which people look at after the main image and film name. The same serif font is used, however the choice of colour is different to distinguish the tagline from the film name alongside with any other text, such as the credits. By adding credits and including and the actors names, it makes the film appear realistic. It also follows the convention of a film poster as it advertises the actors and the production team; which are the people who took part in producing the film.
